Description: This keynote presentation will introduce a basic view of "Smart Grid" technology and its integration with IT infrastructure from BlackHat standpoint. It also highlights the market trends and technologies involved in the development of Smart Grid architecture by presenting case studies. We have also underlined its wireless capabilities and how they could raise some serious privacy issues. Additionally, we inline the history of power outages caused by cyber attacks and other malicious/non-malicious actions. Then, we have discussed the cyber security strategy listing known threats and their mitigation instructions for securing today's modernized power grid system. In the end, we take up a broad view of attacker's perspective to focus on Smart Grid vulnerabilities and put forward tangible countermeasures as a part of security best practices.
